Terms of use
The agreement between you and Onja when you browse the directory, create an account, book a class or tour, or use the Onja Card.
1 — Acceptance
By using onja.ca (the "Service") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2 — Who we are
Onja is a trilingual community platform for Persian-speaking residents of Canada, operated by Parsmont Inc. ("Onja", "we") from Montreal, Quebec, and built by STELLAIRE. Contact: ceo@onja.ca.
3 — Member accounts
Accounts are open to individuals 18 years or older. You sign up with your email address, your mobile number and a password, and confirm a 6-digit code sent — at your choice — to that phone or email; the email address is your sign-in name, and the part before the @ is used as your display username. Keep your information accurate and your password to yourself, and tell us immediately if you lose control of your email. You are responsible for activity under your account, and we may suspend an account used in breach of these terms.
4 — Business listings
Listing in the directory is free for legitimate businesses serving the Persian community in Canada. Listings are gathered from public community channels and from business owners themselves, then cleaned by hand. A "Listed on N community channels" note states a countable fact about where a business appears; the "Listing checked" date says when a human last reviewed the listing. Neither is an endorsement, licence check or guarantee. Businesses in regulated fields (legal, health, finance, immigration and similar) are shown with a link to their regulator's public register, and it is your responsibility to verify credentials there.
5 — Claiming, editing and removal
If a listing is yours, you may claim it to correct the details or ask us to remove it. To protect businesses from hijacking, a claim requires your name, a contact, the number of one valid government ID (driver's licence, passport or another official document), and a clear photo or PDF of that document. The ID number and the document copy are used solely to verify your identity, is visible to the Onja team only, is handled under our Privacy Policy, and is never published. We act on verified claims within five business days. A business that closes keeps its page marked as closed, following common directory practice, and is removed on request.
6 — Accuracy
We check listings when we add them and on periodic passes, but we do not continuously monitor 871 businesses. Hours, prices, services and websites change without notice to us — confirm before you travel or pay, and use the report link on any listing to tell us about an error. We correct verified errors promptly.
7 — Content you give us
When you submit text, corrections, images or other material ("your content"), you grant Onja a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and promote that content for operating and promoting the Service, and you confirm you have the right to give it. We review submissions and may decline or remove content at our discretion, including anything unlawful, misleading, defamatory, obscene or hateful.
8 — Bookings, payments and refunds
Classes and some tours are paid through Stripe's hosted checkout; Onja's servers never see your card number. The price, and the refund and cancellation conditions, are shown on the page where you book, before you pay — those conditions are part of these terms. Some tours are booked directly with the operator through a link out; that booking is with the operator under the operator's terms, and Onja takes no payment for it. If prices change, the new price applies to new purchases only, announced on the relevant page before it applies.
9 — The Onja Card
The Onja Card is a paid annual membership that gives access to offers at participating businesses. It is not on sale yet; when it opens, the price, the refund window and each offer's use limits will be published on the card page before you buy, and this section applies. Offers are made and honoured by the participating business, which may join or withdraw; the Card is personal, non-transferable and has no cash value. Redemption codes are limited and expire as stated when they are issued.
10 — Acceptable use
Use the Service lawfully and respectfully. Do not scrape the directory in bulk or resell its data, submit listings or claims you have no right to make, misuse redemption codes, interfere with the Service's operation, or post content that breaks Canadian or Quebec law. We may remove content and suspend accounts that do.
11 — Newsletter
The weekly newsletter is sent only to addresses that subscribed and confirmed (double opt-in). Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, honoured within 10 business days at the latest — usually immediately.
12 — Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Parsmont Inc., its directors, officers and employees from claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your listing or claim, your misuse of the Service, or your breach of these terms.
13 — Liability
The Service is provided as it is. To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of CA$100 or the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any right or warranty that the law of Quebec — including the Consumer Protection Act — does not allow to be limited or excluded.
14 — Data and legal requests
Personal information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. We share it only with the service providers that run the platform on our instructions (hosting, database, payment processing) and with authorities upon a valid, lawful request. We do not sell user data.
15 — Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes are posted on this page with a new date — and, for members, may also be emailed — at least 30 days before they apply. Continued use after the new date means you accept them.
16 — Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and of Canada, and disputes belong to the courts of Quebec, district of Montréal. If you are a consumer, nothing here takes away remedies the Quebec Consumer Protection Act gives you or forces you into arbitration.
